Exercise and diet becomes the sacrifice. When I say diet, I am simply referring to the food we choose to consume. A healthy lifestyle carries both short and long term health benefits. In the long term eating a balanced diet along with regular exercise and maintaining healthy weight will most definitely add years to your life while also neutralizing the risk of certain diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease to name a few.
Everybody knows that they should be eating healthier, but most don’t until something drastic happens in their lives. In 2006, The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that chronic diseases were responsible for five of six leading causes of death in the United States. Of the leading causes of death in the United States 57 percent were caused by cardiovascular disease and cancer, and nearly 80 percent of these deaths could have been prevented if a healthy lifestyle was followed.
(In other words an inactive lifestyle along with poor eating habits is detrimental to our health. The good thing is that most health issues can be reversed if we are mindful of what we eat as well as what we choose for lifestyle choices.)
Start now. How we live is bigger than just us as individuals. We can have a positive effect on all we come in contact with especially our children and loved ones. Parents who practice healthy eating habits along with exercise tend to pass them on.
Remember your health truly is your wealth.
Set goals. Accomplish the goals. Re-evaluate those goals, see where you excelled, where you slipped up and make the adjustments. Forgive yourself for failures and learn from them. The lessons learned from them will ultimately be your blueprint for success. Master the day and live your best life. Remember living a healthy lifestyle requires a lifetime of commitment, persistence and dedication. It is not a fad.
