Greetings Tribe.
If you are brand new to meditation, this is a great place to start. The reality for most of us is that over time we become experts at being distracted. The older we get, the more experienced at it we become. The routine becomes work, social media, text messages, television, music along with all of the other trappings that distract us from our individual, spiritual thought process. Without realizing, these things become second nature. All too often this practice leads us down a road of disconnect from self. A road attached to confusion, stress, anxiety, doubt, lack of focus and so on. How do we regain control of each and every moment? Mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness in itself means to be aware. This means to consciously pay attention on purpose in the present on a moment to moment basis. To make understanding the purpose of meditation more digestible, meditation is a specific technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state, hence mindfulness meditation. Focus and concentration is paramount. It really doesn’t matter where you are at this moment as far as your ability to do so.
For some the thought of mediation can be overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be.
Your intentions for getting into mediation will be crucial when it comes to what you will get out of it. It will either keep you committed or not. There are no quick fixes involved when it comes to overall improvement of your life. It takes time to really reap the rewards that mindfulness meditation can give you. Like anything else in life what you practice you become much more efficient at. Learn to take the necessary time to sit with your thoughts. Once this happens, mindfulness meditation will allow you to learn how to live in the moment. That focus and concentration allows you to body scan for toxic elements that you will feel melt away. One of many reasons for meditation practice is so that you become in tuned with your higher being. Why is this important? Because the gift of life is meant to be lived joyously. Simplify your life and get rid of the mental clutter. Most people believe that they have so much to do when they really don’t. The distractions that are in our lives are there because we put them there. We should all strive to become the highest and healthiest version of ourselves.
Meditation is often overlooked as a holistic way to improve the quality of life. Here is a list of reasons why it should be embraced more.
- Helps Enhanced Self-awareness
- Helps Reduces Anxiety
- Prevent and treat depression
- Increase body satisfaction
- Improves cognition
- Helps the brain reduce distractions
- Memory enhancement
- Lower depression rate
- Lowering blood pressure and heart rate
- reduce inflammation and overall health
- Helps you sleep by its calming influence
Once understood, mindfulness meditation can simply be used as a tool to control your mental, emotional and physical health. It does this by training the brain to better focus and manage stress. Each moment sets up the next. Be in the moment and be clear of what is happening in each and every moment. Understand what is going on mind, body and spirit. Once you commit to taking that next step to becoming a much healthier, mindful version of yourself you will most definitely feel the benefits. It can be done anywhere at any time. When you are at home you can very easily begin with a designated area where you can have peace while you meditate. If at all possible nothing else should occupy that space. It will be your own private meditation area. Your Zen Den. You shall use this spot to go to however times a day to block out all distractions. Meditation is all about clearing the mind, so that it is relaxed and inwardly focused. Focus along with proper breathing technique will promote feelings of calmness and relaxation. So get to truly know yourself. Just know that perfection isn’t really possible but transformation is. The more you practice the better you will become.

Love this article because it is so true and so important. In the beginning my mind kept bouncing around with thoughts that had nothing to do with the moment. I found a guided meditation on a free app called Meditate.me which helped me focus. There are so many others too. It's time very well spent and I thank you for sharing.
